Travel Suitcases
The transportation medium like the trains, ships and aero planes have made the world a smaller place. During past centuries various styles, sizes and security enhanced Suitcases have evolved. The trail of suitcases has immensely grown due to vast expansion in travel and tourism.
About two thousand years ago during the rule of the Roman Empire, the Romans loved to travel to distant places and enjoy the pleasure of the tourism for pleasure. The Romans packed their luggage in what we may call as the world’s first suitcases and traveled.
The suitcase with its present day look was emerging in the 19th century. Though this suitcase was not like the elegant modern suitcase but it was craggy and sturdy. The suitcase of that time was made of bulky, oil-treated cowhide stretched over a stout wooden frame. These historic suitcases were extremely durable and could with stand the years of wear and tear.
It was in the mid 20th century that tours became a status symbol and not confined to official duties. People planned interesting vacations and they used more and more travel stickers on their travel suitcases indicating the high social status – a fashion stigma of that time.
Though initially it was meant to keep the garment as wrinkle-free as possible so can be hung up or used directly in the cupboard of the hotel or any place you stay. So with the passage of time experimentation led to evolvement of suitcases to keep things for specific purposes during travel. There are specifically designed suitcases for the cameras, pool cues, bras and cigars too. So for every need they meet with delight and faithfulness.
But apart from its invention to the various fantastic forms of the travel suitcases why do people prefer it though back packs etc are available? Actually there are certain attributes of these suitcases. The main advantage is that the stuffing inside the suitcase can be accessed unproblematically and the chances are higher that you will not be trapped in the baggage conveyors. Travel suitcases are easier to stock up, and it moves smoothly will the help of the wheels on the floors of the airports and hotels. It helps in speedy movement as you don’t have to carry luggage. It can keep in more things and is still considered to be safe to keep documents while traveling.
Obviously there are certain drawbacks attached to the travel suitcases especially the traditional ones are that it is not convenient for you to carry most of the suitcases for more than a few minutes. If you are a free and adventurous traveler then surely carrying suitcase is hindrance as you will always require taking taxis, or cars, or may be some animals also if you are in some remote area. If there are no elevators in the places you travel or the hotels you stay then it will be a testing time for you.
